Vice-Chancellor's Message
Netaji Subhas Open University is the premier State Open University in India. In the year 1997, the birth centenary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, NSOU was established by the State Act (W.B. Act (XIX) of 1997 and recognised by U.G.C.2(f), which was passed on 20th August 1997, for imparting Distance Education in the State of West Bengal. In course of time the university has accorded with 12B status of U.G.C., accredited by NAAC with grade A and ranked 2nd among Open Universities of India. NSOU strives to build up the quality teaching learning environment and moves towards the improvement of the quality of open & distance education. NSOU believes in a nascent and vibrant research ecosystem to inculcate new ideas and insights of contemporary academia.

RDC Director's Message
The Research Development Cell has been established in sequel to the relevant guidelines circulated by the U.G.C. in March 2022. The Cell aims to nurture NSOU research ecosystem for more impactful and sustainable research environment within the HEI. It will work for a robust mechanism for developing research ecosystem, aligned with the NEP-2020, which include generation of knowledge, facilitation of research and apt usage of institutional human resource, with proper management system. The Cell will take initiative to optimize intellectual resources within the ambit of RDC and encourage academic institutional collaboration for systematic and discipline-based research.
